Shirley Romaine
Reading Sunday May 4th at 2PM
Poetry Sundays is proud to present actress
Shirley Romaine, who will present a wealth of women poets in "Intimate
Encounters". The women poets whose works make up this program show
us the many faces of intimacy. Selected by Ms. Romaine, they brilliantly
convey intimate encounters with lovers, peers, children, and parents, even
with nature and coming to terms with age. The poets, each with a
unique perspective and composed with great skill include: Nikki Giovanni,
Maxine Kumin, Linda Pastan, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Adrienne Rich, Sharon
Olds, Marge Piercy, Mary Oliver, Lila Zeiger, May Sarton, Florence
Grossman, and Erica Jong. these poets give us the most imaginative
and intense perception of themselves and their world in words that evoke a
strong emotional experience. Their works are intimate, deeply moving
and often very amusing.
The reading will take place at Village Hall at
2:00PM on Sunday, May 4th Please email the program director if you

The $5.00 suggested donation includes

There is free parking at the Municipal Parking Garage next to the Village
Hall and in the outside parking lot.
"I DON'T HAVE A GARAGE, GARAGE SALE"

The Village of Great Neck Plaza is gearing
up for its "I Don't Have A Garage, Garage Sale". Originally
conceived as a venue for people in the Plaza who live in
apartment/condo/co-op's, the event is now open to anybody in the Plaza who
wishes to bring a table to the outdoor parking lot on Grace Avenue between
Park Place and Bond Street to sell their wares.
This very successful "garage-less garage
sale" has become a popular way to spend a sunday selling or buying gently
used clothing, appliances, furniture, children's ware, jewelry, sporting
goods, computer equipment, artwork, crafts, toys and lots more!
You will find about 50
apartment dwellers in one spot, with a variety of antiques, collectibles,
household items, and more!
If you would like to
attend, here are the directions: LIE Exit 33North, which is
Lakeville Road. This becomes Middle Neck Road when you pass Northern
Blvd., then turn right at Grace Ave, turn left at 1st traffic
light and you're there! Free parking.
The cost to register
for a spot is $5 for residents of Great Neck Plaza and $20 for
non-residents. This low charge will help defray the rising costs of
advertising. If you would like to reserve a spot, please make a
check payable to: Village of Great Neck Plaza and call the Village and ask
for Carol Teplin (482-4500).
